Keys' Little Anime Cel and Animation Art FAQ

About this FAQ

I don't know everything about cels. I wish I did. However, over the years I've picked up a few bits of information from various sources that I thought might be useful. My standard disclaimer is that I may be wrong and that whatever you do to your own cels is your own business and not my fault. I do urge you to be careful and hesitant in the treatment of your cels.

An interesting note about anime cel collecting from my point of view (that of a non-Japanese who relies mostly on English sites), is that the community's terminology seems to be a blend of US animation terms and Japanese animation terms. This introduces some redundancy and a couple non-sensical things. However, I find both terms to be of use, especially as a seller might know one set better than the other.

As I said earlier, I gathered this information from very many sources. I would like to thank Brian of Kimono cels, Rick of Anime Link, Chad of The Internet Guide, Stephen of Anime Taro, David of Nichibei, Nia, Thia, Heather of Usagi's House, Yann of Animanga/Cels.org and countless others who I'm sure I'm forgetting for sharing their knowledge over the years. I highly recommend asking them and visiting their sites for more information. (Note: these people do not necessarily endorse this site in any way.)

Lastly, this is by far not comprehensive. There are many things I couldn't even begin to tell you about. There are some topics I barely touch upon if at all. I have added some links to other great sites which cover these (as well as good all around FAQs) in the links section.
