This is a sketch I was fortunate enough to win a Pacific Media Expo this year. I also staff the con but arranged so I could have time off to go to Moriyama's panel. I was a major proponent for inviting him to the convention during the planning stages, so it feels kind of fitting that this would all work out. Also, several of my friends had gotten lucky at this sketch lottery too so it was just a warm feeling all around.
Moriyama and his office manager, Shuusuke are really wonderful people. Moriyama was notably shy and nervous with his first trip out, but he was willing to do so to promote his work. It helps that a lot of his friends were coming too. Plus, Moriyama donated an incredible amount to the charity auction at PMX, five color sketches. The marker work was truly amazing.
I originally met Shuusuke at a dinner during AX Tokyo. I was impressed he remembered me from them and brought it up often, considering we had not gotten to speak much. Shuusuke was a little more outgoing at PMX and very stylish in his own unique way.
I was in such a skipping mood after winning that I ended up being first in line for a sketch. I asked for flashback small Chrno. I'm rather fond o fhim with his hair down. It gets a little too spikey for me in the braid. He's so cute too.
