Falis as Princess Alita from Murder Princess Inui Sekihiko - Manga Story and Art
Broccoli Books brought Inui Sekihiko to Fanime 2007. He gave multiple panels, discussing his start as a child fan through his continuing doujinshi years, his work on Comic Party and his new original works. Murder Princess was the first such original work and is currently being brought out in English by Broccoli Books.
It was a tough choice for me choosing between bandit Falis and princess Falis. I like Falis because she's tough and obviously works for it. While sometimes characters like this seem overbearing to me, Inui keeps Falis likable with just the amount of shrewdness and seriousness. I think this sketch really captures that in all one look. I like the use of spot color to enhance the image as well. I think the princess version's use of red is what tipped me over on my decision. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect expression either.
